Accuracy
How accurate is this, honestly?
We've tested this across dozens of photos — floor plans, product shots, random stuff around the house — and the results only hold up if you calibrate carefully. Camera angle matters more than most people expect. Keep the reference object and the thing you're measuring on the same flat plane, and shoot as close to straight-on as you can manage. Even a 10–15° tilt threw our readings off by a noticeable margin in testing, and it got worse the closer the measured object was to the lens compared with the reference. A wide-angle or fisheye lens will distort things too, so a normal lens is your best bet. Zooming in or out is fine on its own — distance mismatch between the reference and the target is what actually breaks the math. Bottom line: treat this as a solid estimate, not a certified measurement. Grab a physical tape measure for anything safety-critical.

This one adds a single step that bridges that gap: draw a line over something whose real size you already know, tell it that length, and every other line, shape, or radius you draw after that gets converted into millimeters, centimeters, meters, inches, or feet automatically.
That's really the whole idea — establish scale once, then measure freely from the image. Think of it as a digital image tape: no physical tape measure needed, just a photo and one known length.
